Girls Varsity Track vs. Lake Fenton HS School

Game Date
Apr 30, 2024
Score
TROJANS: 83
LAKE FENTON HIGH SCHOOL: 44

Owosso track and field traveled to Lake Fenton on Tuesday for the final dual meet of the season. When all was said and done, our girls came away with an 83-44 win, bringing our regular season FML record to a perfect 5-0. If we finish in the top 2 at the conference championship meet next Friday we are guaranteed at least a share of our 2nd straight conference championship.

Many of our athletes had outstanding performances (we won 13 out of the 17 events), including athlete of the meet Libby Summerland, who earned 4 first place finishes, picking up 20 points on the evening. Libby won the 100m, 200m, 400m, and pole vault. There was a mistake in the 400m that resulted in times that were not accurate, but it still was her best 400 performance of the season. Also, Libby finished only 1 inch from her PR pole vault, and didn't even take her next vaults after achieving that height.

Nearly as perfect as Libby was Peyton Spicer so picked up wins in discus, high jump, and long jump. Her only loss was a 2nd place finish to teammate Desiree Mofield in shot put. Both Peyton and Desiree managed season best throws in shot put and Peyton jumped a PR in long jump as well.

On top of winning shot put, Desiree finished right behind Peyton in discus.

Gabi Hufnagel continued her reign as queen of hurdles with wins in both the 100m and 300m hurdles. She also pick up a 2nd place 200m finish and was a part of the winning 4x100m relay team with teammates Kyle Bermudez, Lexi Blaha, and Isabel Root.

In addition to her win in the 4x100m relay, Kyle was able to pick up 2nd place in both pole vault (with a season best 8'8") and the 100m hurdles (also a season record) as well as 3rd in long jump.

Isabel Root added a 3rd place pole vault finish to her win in the 4x100m relay

Skotti Ball-Duley had a very nice win and PR of 2:27.16 in the 800m despite having no competition to speak of. She added another win as part of the 4x800m relay team with teammates Julionna West, Josie Jenkinson, and Emma Crandell.

On top of this win, Josie was able to follow it up with a 3rd place finish in the 1600m.
